What You Need To Know About The Marineland C360 Canister Filter

MarineLand Magniflow Canister Filter for Aquariums, Easy Maintenance

The Marineland C360 Canister Filter has features that are more comparable to higher end filters like the Eheim or Fluval.

However, its price is in the mid-range making it one of the best-valued filters out there.

There are some reports of leaks found online.

However, this was the result of a manufacturer’s defect that occurred during several production runs with the motor head and has since been resolved.

If purchasing a new filter, leak concerns with this filter are no greater than with any other canister filter and covered within the manufactures warranty (3 years for this filter).

The C360 has a media capacity of 3.4 gallons, is one of the largest in its class but be careful not to overfill.

What’s Included: Polishing filter-floss pad, filter foam, carbon filter bag, bio-filter balls, inlet/outlet assembly, 5/8″ ID tubing (7/8″ ID for C-530), and ceramic bio-filter rings.

If you are buying your first canister filter, here is some advice from other beginners and novices who purchased the Marineland C360 Canister Filter.

“Discounting the fact that the filter is reasonably priced, this is an easy to use/clean filter. It also supplies sufficient flow for larger tanks. I’m using both the 360 and 220 filters on a 70 gal and 40 gal tanks housing cichlids…These filters will go a month between cleanings and has sufficient water flow”

  • This filter is very respectable with 360gph rated for tanks up to 100 gallons.
  • Multiple (4) trays allows superior flexibility for your media selections… and also provides A LOT of room for media to be used.
  • Marineland is known for their best in industry customer service. If you require spare parts they are available via numerous on-line resources or contact their customer service.

  • The filter media that arrives with the filter is good, but it could be better. Specifically the bio media, I suggest SeaChem Matrix or other quality biomax type ring.
  • Be careful when replacing the media trays. The rubber gaskets can be misplaced or tear if your not careful.
  • Make sure you have room for this filter, it is a large unit and may not fit under some cabinets.

How Does The Marineland Canister Filter Stack up Against Other Popular Canister Filters?

Marineland Canister Filter vs Eheim Canister Filters

To be honest both canister filters are great but comparing them can be difficult as they have similar specs depending on the model type.

Since the Marineland C360 is rated for up to 100-gallon tanks we will compare it to the Eheim 350 which is rated for up to 92-gallon tanks.

Both canister filters are very reliable, easy to use and quiet when running. When comparing technology I believe the Marineland has a step up on the Eheim as it is a bit more advanced.

However, if something isn’t broke don’t fix it and Eheim canister filters definitely work well and have been proven to be one of the most reliable canister filters out there.

Let’s compare the specs & features:

Filter Capacity:

When comparing these two filters both are relatively equal when looking at the recommended capacity.

  • The Marineland is rated for up to 100 Gallons
  • The Eheim is rated for up to 92 Gallons

Flow Rate:

The flow rate for each filter is where we start to see some differences. Although the Marineland has a much higher flow rate than the Eheim. The Eheim still does a fantastic job for a 92-gallon aquarium.

  • The Marineland has a flow rate of 360 Gallons per hour.
  • The Eheim only has a flow rate of 164 Gallons per hour.

Both filters come with a pretty good warranty. However, The Marineland canister filter wins this one.

  • Marineland 3 year warranty
  • Ehiem 2 year warranty

Media Included:

As expected both filters come with their own branded media components that fit well within each canister filter.

To be honest, most people end up mixing and matching their own custom media but here’s what you’ll get when you open the box:

  • Marineland includes a polishing pad, bio balls, and ceramic rings, carbon, and filter foam
  • Eheim includes the following: Polishing pad, Bio media, carbon, and coarse filter pad

As you can see both the Marineland and Eheim canister filters are quality and each has its own followers. If you would like a bit more information on the Eheim canister filters?
